Bisping will fight against Leben at the UFC 89 event

"The Ultimate Fighter 3" winner Michael Bisping (16-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) will fight against veteran UFC middleweight Chris Leben (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) at the UFC 89 event, which will take place at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena, England on October 18.

The statement was made by Marshall Zelaznik, the chief of the UFC’s UK division, on a weekly UFC news show, Setanta News Ultimate Talk Show that airs on Setanta Television in the UK.

According to Zelaznik, it is not clear if bout agreements have been signed. However, both the fighters have agreed to the fight.

On June 7, London, the bout between Bisping and Leben had been scheduled. However, Leben had to serve jail time and was forced off the card for a probation violation stemming from an earlier DUI arrest.

Bisping, this past November suffered his first career defeat in a split decision loss to Rashad Evans. He is England’s most popular fighter. He will now fight for the fourth time in a UFC-England event.

Leben suffered three losses in a span of four fights in the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter”. However, he scored a first round TKO of Alessio Sakara and Terry Martin’s third round knockout.
