It's a make-or-break situation for Fabricio Werdum

A dive for MMA

The measure taken to legalize MMA have been apparently down as per the count in the committee of assembly tourism as it did not receive enough of votes so as to move forward.

Among those who took credit for the knockout was D-Colonie who stated that a sport which involves brutality should not be sanctioned at all. According to Bob Reilly, dog fighting and cock fighting can be banned so why should human beings enter into a cage to punch, kick and knee each other. Reilly even expressed concerns that the measure might get passed just because of the lobbying, pressure and the big money involved over here.

Ultimate Fighting Championship is the organisation which is involved in promoting these types of activities and this particular organisation has been lobbying to get into New York since the year 2001. As per Reilly, this sort of a sport is currently illegal in more than twenty states and that includes New York as well.

But findings suggest that what Reilly has said is not correct. The Ultimate Fighting Championship is banned in ten states only which include Wisconsin, Massachusetts, West Virginia, Connecticut, South Carolina, Maine, Vermont, New York, Rhode Island and Indiana.

According to a UFA spokesperson, MMA is a highly optimistic and fast growing sport in America and this is going to be regulated in New York in the near future.
