It's a make-or-break situation for Fabricio Werdum

EliteXC and CBS are going all out for better show in Saturday Night Fights

EliteXC and CBS are putting in all efforts to make Saturday Night Fights of July 26, a better show than their first show which was bereft of high quality fights. The card has enough action to make fans happy, but the real test for CBS will be in getting larger number of viewers than its first show.

The show is expected to stage quality fights in 2 champion bouts, where Scott’s “Hands of Steel” Smith will be pitched for middleweight title against defending champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler, of St. Louis, in the main event.

Doubts are being expressed over success of this card in getting viewers even equal to the numbers in first show due absence of mainstream stars Kimbo Slice and Gina Carano. Both of them were the main attraction for viewers in the first show. CBS has also not marketed Saturday Night Fights as aggressively as in the first show. Lawler and Smith is no match to marketing power of Slice and Carano’s popularity as the top most fighter of EliteXC.

EliteXC is searching other famed fighters for marketing in the mainstream. Slice and Carano are already sourced to feature in its next card.
