Pavlik continues winning spree with Lockett’s knockout
Kelly Pavlik being held as the next great middleweight champion in the offing humbled Welshman Gary Lockett on Saturday with his knockout punches in the third round of title defense at Boardwalk Hall.
Pavlik who was crowned champion in the WBC and WBO middleweight championship, made Lockett a mere tune up with his hard hitting punches.
Lockett who was considered to be the top fighter did nothing to prove it.
Lockett was stunned by Pavlik in the first round, fell to a knee in the second round and got severely punished in the third.
Pavlik said that his jab which worked very fine enabled him to stop Lockett in his track and buzzed him each time he took a knee.
Pavlik has inked “Lift Our Spirits” across his shoulders. He inspires folks in Youngstown. They believe that Pavlik alone will take boxing to glorious heights in sports.
Pavlik stands big chance of reaching to the top. Floyd Mayweather Jr. the pound-for-pound king has announced his retirement and the most popular fighter Oscar De La Hoya will be calling quits after two more fights.
According to the Top rank promoter Bob Arum, Kelly Pavlik is the best middleweight he had ever seen.
