Welterweight champion Matt Hughes will be away from bouts for longer time
The news is sad for the fans of UFC’s former Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, who will be out of the race for any title for more than 7 months.
Matt Hughes, in the recently conducted medical investigations, has been diagnosed of partially torn MCL and PCL. The news was made public by Matt on his blog.
He informs that his MCL is totally torn and has remained attached to his femur. His PCL is fortunately only partially torn. He has been advised to postpone any surgery since surgeons feel that PCL will repair itself naturally but MCL may or may not heal in the course of time.
Matt is also seeking a second opinion from the experts this week and will keep surgery option in abeyance for some more time.
He asked people to wait for another blog entry till the receipt of second opinion.
Matt Hughes is quite adamant on taking on Matt Serra first before any other fight, immediately after getting fully fit. Hughes with the long successful career had been talking of retirement in the recent past, probably due to gradual weakening of his body.
But one thing is sure. Come what may, Matt and his ardent fans will not back out from fight with Matt Serra.
