Yoshihiro Akiyama will compete at DREAM 5
On July 21, Osaka, Japan, Yoshihiro Akiyama will make his debut with K 1’s latest course of action, DREAM. Yoshihiro Akiyama will continue the trend of K 1 as he has competed for K 1 his entire career.
DREAM made an announcement on Tuesday saying that Norifumi 'Kid' Yamamoto, 2005 Lightweight Grand Prix winner will compete against Joseph Benavidez.
Akiyama (10-2) will return on the DREAM 5 card. He is the second K-1 Hero’s Grand Prix Champion. It is yet to be determined who will Akiyama compete against at the DREAM 5. The final round at DREAM 5 would be the Lightweight Grand Prix.
Kazuo Misaki had knocked out Korean Judoka in his last fight at the New Year’s Eve. The name of the event was “Yarennoka”. Misaki’s kick was declared to be illegal as per the rules because Akiyama was in the four point stance
Shinya Aoki will compete against Katsuhiko Nagata and there are other matchups with Tatsuya Kawajiri, Eddie Alvarez, Caol Uno.
