Bobby Southworth is a very popular American Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Born 16 December in 1969, this 38 year old is a hot favourite amongst the MMA fans. Bobby Southworth is a an extremely athletic fighter. He fights in the light heavyweight category and is currently the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion. Bobby Southworth has taken part in fights in PRIDE FC and has also appeared on the Ultimate Fighter’s Season 1.

Bobby Southworth got his major exposure in the world of Mixed Martial Arts when he had the opportunity to fight Vitor Belfort at PRIDE 13. The Brazilian veteran had overwhelmed Bobby Southworth and he lost to him by a rear naked choke in the very first round.

During his career, Bobby Southworth appeared on Season One of the Ultimate Fighter. Bobby Southworth won his preliminary fight against Lodune Sincaid. The season started very well for Southworth. However he lost in the second match of the Ultimate Fighter against Stephan Bonnar. The match ended due to a controversial split decision. This was a setback for many of his fans. Bobby Southworth then came back to the house as a mere replacement for Forrest Griffin. Bobby Southworth was to fight just in case Griffin was unable to make it due to his medical conditions. However Griffin recovered just in time and made it to the fight leaving Bobby Southworth with not much choice. Bobby South worth got a chance to fight only during the end of the finale where he again lost to Sam Hoger.

Bobby Southworth is affiliated to the American Kickboxing Academy. He is a former UCDavis Basketball player and was a sports addict living in Santa Cruz, CA. Bobby Southworth has a decent fighting record in his MMA career. Bobby has won a total of 7 fights, lost a total of 4 matches. Standing 6.1” tall and weighing 205 pounds, Bobby Southworth definitely has the potential. Bobby Southworth is under training form the renowned trainer Bob Cook.

Bobby Southworth then moved to StrikeForce. At Strikeforce, Bobby Southworth got the opportunity to fight for the organization as the light heavyweight contender as Strikeforce did not have one. He fought for Strikeforce in the light heavyweight category against Vernon White. Bobby Southworth defeated Vernon White in the fight by a decision victory. Bobby Southworth gave a good display of his fighting abilities during the match by frequently taking down Vernon White and controlling the pace of the fight throughout.
