Brandon Vera is one fighter you should definitely watch while he is fighting in the ring. He is one of the most dangerous fighters and has a splendid career record. Brandon Vera is an extremely athletic mixed martial arts fighter. He is currently fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the heavy weight fighter’s category. Brandon Vera is one of the youngest fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Brandon Vera currently lives in San Diego, California in the United States of America.
Brandon Vera’s nickname is The Truth. Brandon is well over 6’2” tall and weighs around 225 lbs. He is one of the fittest fighters in the heavy weight category. Brandon Vera’s fighting style is a unique blend of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Wrestling. Brandon excelled in wrestling during his school days and earned an athletic scholarship to Old Dominion University. After a year, he felt that college wasn’t for him and joined the United States Air Force. He joined the Air Force wrestling team and got training at the US Olympic Training Center, Colorado. Vera was discharged from the Air Force on a medical discharge after getting injured in a fight.
After returning to Virginia, he rehabilitated his injured arm and became fit enough to enter the East Coast Grappler’s Quest submission wrestling competitions. Lloyd Irvin noticed Brandon Vera and offered him to train with his school. It was at this school that Brandon Vera was introduced to mixed martial arts. Vera then moved to San Diego for a training position in City Boxing. Mark Dion, the owner of City Boxing introduced Brandon Vera to Rob Kaman, the kickboxing expert. Dion later gave Brandon a partial ownership of City Boxing.
Brandon Vera had his first ever mixed martial arts bout in July 2002 under the training of Lloyd Irvin. Brandon won the fight against Adam Rivera in a TKO in the very first round. Since then, there has been no looking back. Brandon Vera has had an unbeatable record in the mixed martial arts. Brandon Vera created a record of sorts when he won two bouts in the same night, including a win against Mike Whitehead in the finals. Brandon Vera recently won a fight against former heavyweight Champion Frank Mir in the UFC- 65. Brandon “the Truth” Vera took just 69 seconds to win against the former champion by knocking him out in the very first round.
