It's a make-or-break situation for Fabricio Werdum

Chris Horodecki

Chris Horodecki

Called The Polish Hammer, he literally is one. For he has been hammering his opponent out of the fighting arena like no one ever has. Meet this unvanquished king of light-weight MMA, he is Chris Horodecki. Born in Poland on Sept 24, 1987, he migrated to Canada as a youth. When 13 he attended a seminar run by Shawn Tompkins in Ontario and this attendance was enough to convince him to jump into the deep muscled sea of Mixed Martial Arts. This man is gifted with an unheard of alacrity, a promptness of response that shocks his opponent into the dizziness of self-doubt. Currently he is hammering for the Los Angeles Anacondas of the International Fight League in the lightweight category.

From day one his talent was apparent as he went about the job of learning and perfecting skills under the coaching of Tompkins at a fast pace, particularly his striking abilities. Just a few days into his nineteenth year, he completely overthrew his first victim. The fact that his opponent had an experience of 11 bouts only testified to his talent and temperament. Two years hence, the march is still on. His MMA record is straight and simple: 9 wins and no losses. Hooh! A true champion. Six of the wins have been smart and crisp knock-out affairs. For his team he is some kind of a joker but for his opponents a predator, reverence is what they all have for this still boyish but plundering kick-boxer. Only if we could see into the future- is the feeling this kid evokes.

HE is currently training with Mark Hominick and Sam Stout. Not very  far behind Sam, his future opponents could be Jay Estrada, Donald Quimet and Blake Fredrickson. HE is wrestling right now with the University of Western team.

Some people might think he is too young, but they are off the mark for he is not a kid when it comes to experience. He has been training with good people and he is in a very good shape. If his opponent views him as an inexperienced kid, he is faltering at his own expense, this is what the kids feels about this whole affair of his being very inexperienced… just because he is still not 20.

But then he is in other ways just another kid, he is in the first year of college. As a backup to his MMA plan, he intends to take up paramedics program from next year. What an amazing combination of muscle and brain he is.

With days he is bound to grow taller from the present height of 5’9”; bound to get heavier from the present weight of 70kg. And more skilled. So there is every chance of the hammer getting bigger and stronger.
