Chris Leben

People watching the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, a reality television series produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on Spike TV were shocked to see
a drunk American urinate on the bed of a fellow competitor. “That is men and boys and women and girls Chris Leben for you in the most pristine form, immaculate at wet antics and mouthing outspokenness.” Controversial and outspoken, he reminds you of that Tennis genius of the eighties who also happened to be an American. And the victim whose bed was wetted was no one but Jason Thacker, his teammate later on. Chris did not stop there; he went on to steal his pillow afterward. Chris in the finale of the Ultimate Fighter fought Thacker and defeated him in the first round itself. However, he apologized to Thacker in public and said that he had given up drinking after the incident.
Nicknamed “The Crippler” or “The Cat Smasher” this 5’11” tall American, he could hardly be called tall by the American standard, was born in Portland, Oregon on July 21, 1980 and weighs 84 kg.
After the show he migrated to Seattle in 2005 to train with AMC Pankration. His previous training team was Team Quest. He holds the unique record of being the only MMA fighter to have fought in the first six Ultimate Fight Night events.
His UFC record is 6 is to 3 in his favor including a TKO against Jason Thacker, a split decision against Patrick Cote, an armbar submission against Edwin Dewees, a first-round TKO over Jorge Rivera and a unanimous decision over Luigi Fioravanti.
Presently stationed at Gresham, or, Leben’s overall MMA track record brightly shines at 16 wins and only 3 defeats. His strength is his Punching power.
He starts his training at 10:30am for a couple of hours and works on his strength and conditioning. Then he eats and takes a nap and returns to the gym at 6pm and trains for another 3 hours.
This journey began when he was in the seventh grade; back then he always talked about MMA. He began to train full-time to become a pro the day he walked into Team Quest.
The ranks and titles he has held are Sportfight, WEC, and Gladiator Challenge. And his favorite technique: “Putting the stamp on kids!”
This fighter was always in the street, for he never went to school or college. Before joining MMA he was in the construction line.
