It's a make-or-break situation for Fabricio Werdum

Chris Lytle

Chris Lytle

Chris Scott Lytle (nickname "Lights Out") was born on August 18, 1974 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is an American mixed martial arts fighter, boxer and expert of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Lytle is the ruling Cage Rage World Welterweight champion, and was significantly highlighted as a welterweight on The Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback.

He began his training for fighting in 1998, as a means of keeping him active. He has participated in the Hook N' Shoot and Absolute Fighting Championship promotions, and has just won the Cage Rage World Welterweight Championship. He was the 175 lb Indiana state boxing champion in 2004.

He contested The Ultimate Fighter 4 on Spike TV, where he won exhibition bouts by beating Pete Spratt and Din Thomas and went into the welterweight finale. But in The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale, he lost to Matt Serra by split decision. Lytle was the more active fighter on the feet, and tying up and resorting to using various very gently damaging foot stomps till he received takedowns. From this time onwards, he became the more active fighter and Lytle held guard and apparently waited for the referee to stand the fight up. Two judges gave verdict in the favor of Serra, 30-27 and one judge favored Lytle, 30-27. However it was a very close match, despite the scores. The inequality in the scoring (3 rounds to 0 for Serra x 2 and 3 rounds to 0 for Lytle x 1) highlighted the present inaccurate definition of the Unified MMA Rules.

His favored technique is the headlock and mentioning his flexibility as a reason to help him carry out choke submissions. He was defeated by former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes on March 3rd at UFC 68 in Columbus, Ohio by unanimous decision.

In personal life, Chris is married to Kristin and is the father of 4 children, Keegan, 11, Kaylin, 10, Corrine, 5, and Jake, 3. When not fighting, he works as a fireman at the Warren Township Fire Department. He is 5 ft 11 in (180 cm) tall and weighs 170 lb (77 kg). He has 32 wins in mixed martial arts bouts to his credit, of which 3 were knockout wins and 15 submission wins. He has lost 13 times and 4 of his matches ended in draw. In boxing, he has won 13 matches, of which 7 were knockout wins and lost 1 match and drew 1 match.
