It's a make-or-break situation for Fabricio Werdum

David Christian Heath

David Christian Heath

David Christian Heath was born on February 16, 1969 in Tampa, Florida. He is an American professional wrestler, and is better known by his Ring names; “The Vampire Warrior” and “Gangrel”. His "gothic lifestyle" has also made him famous and his behavior in the ring also close to reality.

Heath started his career by training with Dean Malenko in Florida. On completion of his training, he first started participating in different Independent federations in the Florida, including Independent Professional Wrestling (IPW) where he was crowned a Tag Team champion.

While working for Universal Wrestling Federation (UWF) he teamed up with Luna Vachon as his valet. They fell in love and got married later on. In those days, his fighting name was Gangrel. After leaving the World Wrestling Federation, Heath couldn’t use the Gangrel name, and switched over to the wrestling name of Vampire Warrior that he had used before going to WWF.

In 1995, Heath participated in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) for some time, fighting with Tommy Dreamer due to his relationship with Luna Vachon. There he was spotted by World Wrestling Federation (WWF) officials and got a contract with the WWF. On August 16, 1998, he made his WWF TV debut on the episode of Sunday Night Heat and won the bout against Scott Taylor. Heath got the character name Gangrel.

As Gangrel, Heath created a gothic stable, known as The Brood, along with fellow WWF wrestlers Edge and Christian. The 3 finally teamed up with The Undertaker and his "Ministry of Darkness" stable for a very short time.

After breaking away from the Ministry, The Brood entered into a fight with The Hardy Boyz and their manager Dok Hendrix. The things changed when Gangrel suddenly turned his back on Edge and Christian and joined with Matt and Jeff Hardy, naming the group The New Brood. Sadly for Gangrel, Terri Runnels also started taking interest in the Hardy brothers and they ultimately selected her over him. After this, Gangrel contested as a singles wrestler, generally as a mid carder. In 2000, he made his wife Luna Vachon as his manager, till she was thrown out. Gangrel remained with the WWF till 2001.

Then for some time, Heath worked with World Wrestling All-Stars. In 2002, Heath signed up with NWA: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). At TNA's first PPV, he participated in "Gauntlet for the Gold" match to win the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion of the TNA era as The Vampire Warrior. He made intermittent appearances till 2003 and other smaller independent promotions. He played a small role in Mullingar based promotion XHW. He participated in the XHW videogramme St Patrick’s Day Riot 2002.

In the period from 2004-2006, Heath shifted back and forth between the just renamed World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the Independent circuit. He fought many bouts for WWE in 2004, with his short fight against the Undertaker, being the most memorable one. But this did not give him any concrete results. After that, he and Luna contested various independent tours throughout the world. The couple did a lot of fights with the United Kingdom based All-Star Promotions. In mid-2005 Heath got another short-term WWE contract and contested in their Ohio Valley Wrestling, but was released before getting anything concrete.

In 2006, Heath was terminated as a prospect for WWE's latest brand, ECW. But the WWE has not bothered to take him on rosters because of his frequent weight problems. On the September 21, he made a surprise appearance at Deep South Wrestling by fighting Tommy Suede. He kept on fighting in DSW under his actual name.

On 13 February 2007, David Heath went back to the United Kingdom to All Star Wrestling, where he won the first bout against James Mason. Then after 5 days, he participated in an 8-man tag match at Birkenhead. He is expected to be in England for 3 months more.

Heath is married to Luna Vachon and has two sons, David, Jr. and Donovan. He is the stepfather of Vachon's two sons, Joshua and Van. Today he lives in the city of Hudson and operates his own lawn care service.
