Denis Kang is a French-Korean mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He contends in PRIDE Fighting Championships. As of November 5, 2006, Denis Kang’s professional MMA record is 26-8-1.

Denis Kang was born of the French island of St Pierre of Miquleon in 1977. Denis’ family moved to Canada and settled in Vancouver in 1988. In Vancouver, Denis initiated coaching in wrestling, while studying in Balmoral Junior Secondary School.

Denis also practiced Hapkido along with the Wolfe brothers. However, his path to success in martial arts was paved when Marcus Soares arrived to Vancouver and established his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in 1997. 

Under the skilled supervision and guidance of Soares, Denis Kang learned and mastered the technique of grappling. Within a short span of time, Denis earned his brown belt along with an astonishing number of wins in Jiu-Jitsu and no-gi competitions. While he was taking traing for Jiu-Jitsu, Denis Kang got fascinated by Mixed Martial Arts competitions. Under the guidance of his master, Soares, he started practicing No-Holds-Barred style.

Denis Kang’s debut fight was held in Richmond B.C. It was an underground event, organized in an industrial warehouse. It only took 17 seconds for Denis to defeat his opponent. Right from that event, Denis Kang has competed in events around the world such as Pancrase, Extreme Challenge, IFC, and M-1.

In 2004, trainer Marcus Soares, conferred a black black on Denis Kang. Denis fought his debut match in Pride Fighting Championship on April 4, 2005. He emerged victorious in the match. As of November 2006, Denis Kang has fought 18 matches without a single defeat. He also holds a 5-0 record in the Pride Fighting Championship.

When Denis Kang is on a break from training, he spends time with his friends. He enjoys going out with friends, watching MMA videos and taking time out to relax at home.
