Eric Schafer

Born on 20th September, 1997, Eric Schafer is a professional mixed martial arts fighter. Popularly known as “Ravishing Red” by his fans, Eric weighs 205lbs (93kg) and falls in the light heavywieght division. He current resides at Milwakee, Wisconsin.
Schafer started his MMA career in 1998, with his first win against “John Lowey”, at the “MS 1 – Midwest Shoot fighting”. He made his debut in the “Ultimate Fighting Championships” at “UFC 62” by defeating “Rob Macdonald” by his arm triangle at round 1. Schafer then moved on to “Xtreme fighting championship” where he was titled the “Xtreme Fighting Organization’s Light heavyweight champion”. This he won by defeating William Hill by triangle choke at XFO 9. Thus, his current records position him with 7 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws.
Eric has graduated from “ UW-Oshkosh” with a bachelor’s degree in biology. With Martial arts, Eric continues his passion for biology by currently working as a Lab technologist at the Blood Center of Wisconsin. He wants to continue with this passion after he is done with fighting. He would do this by going back to medical school for further studies.
Eric starts his day at 5am, with a rigorous workout. This includes either an hour of cardio or an hour and a half of weightlifting. After his workout, he undertakes a three- to four-hour training session with his wrestling or grappling coach. He has been training like this for the past 10 years. His training also includes sparing, submission, how to beat an opponent and how to avoid being beaten. His schedule also includes his full-time job of a “Lab Technologist”. He considers himself lucky when he has had a good work out. He never wants to leave the gym thinking that he could do another 20 pushups, and believes in pushing himself to the utmost.
The Ravishing Red gives the credit of his success, to his hard work and his parents, who were initially taken aback when they heard that he wants to make a career as a wrestler. But later, when they saw his passion and commitment to martial arts, they were completely supportive of his decision.
The life of a wrestler isn’t as easy as we think it to be. Their life involves a lot of hard work, and fighting a new battle each day, be that a fight with one’s body, when they have to exercise each and every muscle, to facing a fight with an opponent, where there is no option to loose. Eric takes his wrestling career not as his job, but as a “Fun Hobby”. He loves this hobby, which he wants to take up on a full time basis in future.
