It's a make-or-break situation for Fabricio Werdum

Erik Paulson

Erik Paulson

Erik Paulson, also called “Sensei Paulson” is a mixed martial artist who’s currently residing in Brea, California. He is titled the “Light heavyweight World Shooto Champion”
He started his career with Judo in 1974 at Minnesota. He initially used this technique alone for streetfighting, however he realised that Judo alone would not help him win a macth. He thus joined a karate class and was also trained for Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, JKD, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
It was in1978, where he began his training in boxing at Anoka, Minnesota. Being highly inspired by “Burce Lee” he started to learn his technique of “Mua Thai, Kali and JDK”, from his former karate coach “Rick Faye”. In all, Paulson has been trained by over 40 different coaches, teachers and guides.

Paulson was always in an assumption that wrestling was just an act of kicking and punching. The closest definition of boxing was seen through the acts of Bruce Lee and Jeet Kuno Do. Paulson learned the true meaning of wrestling, in a seminar conducted by “Yori Nakamara in 1989. His current records state him with 10 wins 0 losses and 1 draw. He holds the World Shooto Title in Japan, which was won by him for 5 continious years, after which he voluntarily retired from it. He is also the holder of two shooto world belts.

Sensei Paulson has been an all rounder and has experiment in various forms of arts. He tried his hands in the movie and television industry, when he was in California. He then worked as a model and commercial actor, continuing his training in Martial Arts. Moving on to the Manhattan Beach, he was seen in various feature films and shows like the “Baywatch,” “Spygames,” “The Abyss,” “American Ninja,” etc.

Eric Paulson is known for his intensive “Grappling” programs, all round the world. These programs are for all those, who want to enhance their grappling skills. He undertakes these sessions at his home in Los Angeles, CA. These are courses ranging from two days, to a month depending upon one’s choice. This training course is divided into three different groups, which include:

  • The Intensive Introductory Course – this is an introduction session for all those who are new to grappling. It concentrates on the basics of grappling.
  • The Custom Intermediate Course – this is a new level to grappling. Here the concentration is more on improving ones weak areas.
  • The Advanced Course- this is the highest level usually for experienced grapplers.

Paulson has a style, which is very unique and extremely popular among MMA fans. He is known for his striking, clinching, and groundwork. His training sessions are considered as one of the best among the world. Sensei Paulson is the most admirable idol among all those who are aspiring to be an integral part of the MMA World.
