Joe Stevenson

Joe Stevenson

Joseph Christopher Stevenson or better known as Joe Stevenson and "Daddy" is a well-known mixed martial artist who fights for Las Vegas in Nevada. He was born on June 15 in 1982 in Torrance county of California. November 5, 2005 was a remarkable day for him as he won a division named Welterweight in the second season of reality series of a television that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) organized. This reality series was known by the name of The Ultimate Fighter. In a close competition with Luke Cummo, he finally succeeded in defeating him and won publicity for himself. At the finale of UFC Ultimate Fighter 2, a unanimous decision was taken after three rounds past, and Stevenson was then honored with a contract offered by the UFC and also he was presented a new car.

The only reason that attracted Joe to relocate to Las Vegas was to get trained under the instructor Marc Laimon. However, the instructor refused to recruit Joe, though Joe desperately needed his help. Nevertheless, Joe had all the luck in his favor and he was then trained by one of the finest grappling instructors of the world. This prepared Joe for MMA’s (Mixed martial arts) greatest Welterweights. It was after this that he made his mind to show his worth and talent to the world by gaining victory at the famous reality show “The Ultimate Fighter”.

Joe’s father expired because of the cancer (bone marrow). He was blessed with a son from his first wife and was christened Joe Jr. From Maia, his second wife, he has has two children namely, Frankie and Tyler. He graduated from the Silverado High School situated located in Victorville, California in 2000.

Amongst all the fighters who were the participants of The Ultimate Fighter 2, Stevenson was the most experienced among them. Upholding the record at the Gladiator Challenge and the King of the Cage, as well as topping the 155 pound weight championship, Stevenson won great acclaim.

After his victory in The Ultimate Fighter 2, Joe had his first fight dated on April 6, 2006. Here, by an undisputed decision, he was defeated by Josh Neer in the Ultimate Fight Night 4 Championship. After this shaking defeat, he again won his spell back by gaining triumph over Octagon expert Yves Edwards at UFC 61 that was held on 8 July 2006. He even hurt Edward badly on his head by his elbow strikes and doctors forced Edward to withdraw.

Stevenson continued his victorious spell thereafter when he overpowered Dokonjonosuke Mishima at UFC 65. Furthermore, he also accomplished victory over Melvin Guillard by employing the same technique of guillotine choke submission.
