Jonathan Parker Fitch, also known as John Fitch is a professional mixed martial arts or MMA fighter from America. He was born in Indiana in Fort Wayne on February 24, 1978. Currently, he is a welterweight at the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Fitch graduated from Purdue University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education along with an addition of history. He had been a member with the wrestling team of Purdue. He had also been a letterman for about four years.  He gained proficiency and tricks of wrestling under the guidance of Tom Erikson and gradually was promoted to become the captain of the team at the wrestling squad.

Erikson had been a well-known former fighter, and his guidance bought Fitch in contact with various other famous fighters like Gary Goodridge and Mark Coleman. The money and the sport of these fighters fascinated Fitch to a great extent and at last he was introduced as a fighter of Mixed Martial Arts in 2002. Fitch is actually a Brazilian and holds a brown belt as on February, 2007 under the famous Dave Camarillo.  

Fitch initiated his career by recording two losses and one win along with one no contest. After this, he went to San Jose in California to get a training and a better understanding of the sport from the American Kickboxing Academy. This paved for him, the way to victory without any defeats. His next fights with well-acclaimed fighters like Jeff Joslin, Alex Serdyukov and Shonie Carter, all turned out in his favor. Fitch in the beginning missed to create an impact for the selection process of The Ultimate Fighter’s first season. However, a last moment decision turned things in his favor and he proved himself by defeating Brock Larson at the Ultimate Fighting Championship in middleweight bout. Afterwards, Fitch fell at the welterweight division. In his next two fights at the UFC, he recorded victory over Thiago Alves and Josh Burkman. His pay-per-view debut at the UFC 64 was made and by a unanimous decision defeated Kuniyoshi Hironaka. Then he got over with Luigi Fioravanti in its second round at UFC 68 with a stern naked choke. This boosted his confidence and he challenged Karo Parisyan for the next fight. The most recent of his fight has been with Roan Carneiro, Brazilian Top Team fighter, who was defeated by him at the UFC event Fight Night 10. This was his second major card event at the UFC. Presently, his MMA record of 14-2, his UFC record of 6-0, and 1 NC talk about his successful story as a professional fighter. Last but not the least; his next fight has been due for September, 2007 at UFC 76 with Diego Sanchez.
