Fight Master: Kalib Starnes

Kalib Axel Starnes (6 January, 1975) is an amazing Canadian professional martial artist. With a height of six feet and three inches and as weight of one eighty five pound, Kalib Axel Starnes holds a record of 8-1-1. Affiliated to Revolution Fight Team, Chilliwack in British Columbia, Starnes fights in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu style. He has been a part of the reality TV series, The Ultimate Fighter. Kalib is a native of Surrey, British Columbia and trains with Revolution Martial Arts.
IN his professional career he has won eight matches and defeated Danny Abbadi, Jason MacDonald, Gerry Elliot, Wayne Atkinson, Wayne Atkinson and Wayne Atkinson. Kalib Axel Starnes lost only to Wayne Atkinson and had a draw with Wayne Atkinson.
Talking about personal life, an amusing fact is revealed with his love for poetry and linguistics. He is also fond of spelling competition. His favorite authors include Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn. For him, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was a passion which he took in his late teens with Royce Gracie in California.
Kalib Starnes is a MMA specialist; MMA stands for mixed martial art combat which became popular with UFC – Ultimate Fighting Championship. Some of the popular techniques applied in MMA include striking techniques like kicks and punches along with grappling techniques like clinching, pinning hold, submission, sweeps and takedown technique. Some of techniques are considered to be illegal such as biting, eye-gouging, fish-hooking the opponent and tricking him into wrong method of fights. One of such illegal strike move consists of attacking on the groin region which is an absolutely illegal move and against the ethics of fight rules.
While talking in an interview, when Kalib is asked that what prompted him to take up fighting as a profession, he very frankly says that he was a very violent childhood and a similar upbringing. He feels that fighting was the only thing he was good at. He also says that he is not a regular job type of a guy who goes at nine and comes back at five. Fighting is a challenge which prepares him on daily basis and helps him to move with a goal towards winning in the ring. His favorite move is rear naked choke and he can perform it with full perfection. He sys that he was destined to fight as he could not concentrate on any job on more than three months as he worked in a steel factory, racetrack security supervisor and sprinkler system installer.
Of late due to his injured ribs, Kalib is away from his fighting circuit. He suffered from a massive sternum injury which was even ignored by his referee and the doctor around. This made Kalib to leave the match as retired hurt because the impact of such as an impact to lead to a permanent injury which could jeopardize Kalib’s fighting career. His cartilage damage made him away from the practice session as he was unable to perform basic sit ups. Thus he took a short break to revive and heal his body and to strike back with full force.
