Marcus Aurelio

Marcus Aurelio

Marcus ‘Maximus’ Aurelio is a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter presently residing in Boca Raton, Florida. Marcus was born on August 18th, 1973 in Fortaleza, Brazil. His present professional fighting record reads 14 – 4 – 0 (14 wins, 4 losses and no draws), 2 of his wins being by submission and 9 by Total knock out (TKO). His height is five feet eight inches, weighing in at one hundred and sixty five pounds. He began training as a Jiu-Jitsu fighter at the tender age of nine. He presently contests in the lightweight division in PRIDE Fighting Championship's Bushido endorsement. Aurelio currently trains with the American Top Team and primarily employs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Marcus was born in Ceara, a Brazilian region where eating is not a privilege for every resident in the area. It’s a disturbing situation in Northeastern Brazil, where conditions of living are very low and people keep overcoming problems daily. Evidently, Marcus Aurelio’s life was never an easy one, and he had to battle against life's adversities to arrive where he stands now.

Marcus Aurelio embarked on his career in promotions like HOOKnSHOOT and ZST, grossing prominent submission victories against Rich Clementi and Remigijus Morkevicius. Marcus then appeared on PRIDE Bushido and trounced PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi with an arm triangle in a non title matchup. During Aurelio's fight with Takanori Gomi, Aurelio continued to choke him into unconsciousness even after the fight was complete. A title rematch was fixed six months hence which Gomi managed winning via split decision. After that fight, Aurelio was featured the card of Bushido 11 and he had in front of him Mitsuhiro Ishida. Fans and insiders weren’t expecting a result different than a victory of Aurelio. But once again, favoritism didn't win and Ishida was able to win a unanimous decision over the Brazilian fighter after 2 rounds of fight.

Marcus is a Welterweight fighter. Aurelio faces problems constantly because he continues to bulk up as he trains. This makes it tough to classify him into a fighting weight category. He tasted victory in fourteen of his seventeen fights with his Jiu-Jitsu style. He has faced the best fighters around; still his record is getting stronger. Aurelio started his MMA career on June 29, 2002. After two rounds, he defeated Walter McCall by a triangle choke submission. He won his subsequent four fights, and the fifth fight, he only lost on a split decision count. An amazing record like this can only get better from here for Aurelio.

Aurelio trains thrice a day. He is working to expand his style to include grappling and Muay Thai, boxing. He hopes to continue training hard so he can become one of the best fighters in the world with the guidance of his coaches Ricardo Liborio, Davi Jr., Benkei, Jason Lambert, Marcus 'Conan' Silveira, and Marcelo Silveira.
