Marcus Davis

Marcus Paul Davis, popularly nicknamed "the Irish Hand Grenade", is an American mixed martial arts fighter. He was born on August 24, 1973 in Houlton. Maine though he fights out of Bangor in the same state. Marcus is twice married divorced as much, though he has reconciled with his second wife. He has four children Alexis, Emma, Duncan and Monica.
Marcus commenced boxing in his youth of 14, becoming pro at 19 with a second round TKO victory over Luis Guzman in April 1993 and went on to amass a professional track record of 17-1-2 (17 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws) over the subsequent seven years in New England. Jaded with boxing, he developed an fascination with the mixed martial arts challenge, greatly to the befuddlement of his comrades. Undisputedly hailed as the big-time as pioneer ranked junior middleweight in New England, Marcus Davis withdrew from boxing in the October of 2000.
Before boxing, Davis achieved martial arts from the tender age of eight. In 1995, Davis, started with Joe Maffei in grappling training based in Massachusetts. In 1997, Davis shifted base back to Bangor and kicked off an MMA school, in chorus with running a bar. The doormen took coaching at school, one of them being Tim Sylvia. After Sylvia joined the Miletich Fighting Systems in 2000, Davis followed suit. More recently, Marcus has qualified with Mark Dellagrotte with his own Team Irish in Bangor.
Marcus Davis made entry into professional MMA on August 22nd, 2003 with an opening round win over Shaun Gay by TKO. Although anon relating himself as "one-dimensional", he accrued a 3-2 pro MMA record. Later in 2005, Davis was a competitor on The Ultimate Fighter 2. With his advent of renowned boxing skills, he chose Joe Stevenson in the fourth episode proving to be a disparity, since Davis was soon taken down by the ultimate winner and acquiesced. He was shortly brought back in episode 10 to act as guard for Jason Von Flue, who bore a laceration on his forehead during practice sessions, though Von Flue's cut was mended in time for fighting. Marcus brawled on the under card of the climax losing to Melvin Guillard in the process.
Subsequent to the series, the Irish Hand Grenade stoutly deliberated retirement, but salvaged from a shoulder wound he picked up against Joe Stevenson and returned to MMA training. He has recoiled successfully with seven wins, counting a victorious homecoming to the UFC with Ortiz v. Shamrock 3 in The Final Chapter. Davis deems himself as a mixed martial artist, contrary to his image of an MMA boxer.
Davis' most recent fight was at UFC 69 where he defeated Pete Spratt via submission. Marcus Davis currently fights as a welterweight in the UFC and in independent MMA promotions in the USA. Davis was also a contestant on the Ultimate Fighter 2 on Spike TV.
