Kampmann started doing Thai boxing, moved on to boxing then submission wrestling, amateur MMA, till professional wretling, at present.

Kampmann now manages his own MMA gym below the Shooters MMA organization called ‘Kung Fu Toa Shootfighting’. Martin is an upcoming Shootfighter himself, and despite his young age is an experienced fighter. He is without any doubt an awesome grabbler but his fight record reveals that he is no stranger to stand-up fighting. Martin had his Mixfight debut In Vikingfight III against Gert Mannaerts from Belgium. Martin defeated his opponent in the first round by throwing punches from the mount. Kampmann is also allied with Tito Ortiz's ‘Team Punishment’.

Kampmann’s next UFC fight was stipulated for UFC 72 in opposition to Rich "Ace" Franklin, however he had to withdraw because he suffered from a knee injury. With Martin Kampmann off the UFC 72 card, former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin (21-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC) confirmed that he’ll instead fight in the main-event bout. Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin will look to stop the informed Martin Kampmann, in their next fight on June 16 in Ireland. It’s not clear as yet whether or not this is a UFC Fight Night special or a pay-per-view (PPV) event.
