Murilo Rua also popularly known as “Ninja” weighing about 83 kg and 5ft and 11 inches in height is a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter. He was born on May 22, 1980 in Curitiba, Brazil. Specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, Rua presently fights in Cage Rage and is also associated with the world famous Chute Boxe Academy.

Very well-known for his well-formed fighting skills,especially in Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu and Muay Thai, he was also once considered as one of the toughest middleweights in the world. He also has a younger brother named Mauricio Rua, also popularly known as “Shogun”, a fellow Chute Boxe member. In December 2004, Rua was honored with his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt from the Rafael Cordeiro and in June 2007, he announced his plans to get married to the renowned Brazialin personal trainer Renata Rua.

Rua never believed in strategies, but he certainly believes in getting trained everyday. He began his martial arts training at a very early age. He was also doing very well in BJJ championships at the Blue and Purple belt level.

Rua have lately won the vacant Elite XC Middleweight title,in the Elite XC co-promoted event, defeating Joey Villasenor in the second round via TKO strikes, where he wasn’t physically fit unless he got the approval at the last moment.  He has also fought against Alex Reid and stood victorious before competing with Joey for the Elite XC Middleweight title. This versatile artist has fought many a times at 185 pounds, sometimes at 205 pounds and heavyweight also.

Rua was trained from the very well-known Academy known Chute Boxe, situated in Curitiba, Brazil, Academy which is responsible to create great champions like Wanderlie Silva. Rua’s first incursion into MMA was against Brazilain based Meca World Vale Tudo, whereby again giving an outstanding performance, he amazed everybody with a remarkable record of 5-0-1. Later followed, the turning point of his career where he signed a contract with Pride Fighting Championships. Fearing about nothing, this versatile fighter, never looked back and defeated personalities such as Daijiro Matsui, Mario Sperry and Akira Shoji. Believing in never giving up, Rua left a mark on the foreign soil of being as one of the greatest middleweights across the globe.

Ninja have an outstanding mixed martial arts record of 14 wins, 4 by knockouts, 7 via submissions, 2 by decisions, 7 losses and 1 draw. Mentioning his few victories include Cage Rage 18- Battleground against Mark Weir via submission (Arm Triangle Choke), Pride 30- Fully Loaded against Murad Chunkaiey by submission( Heel Hook), Pride Shockwave 2003 against Akira Shoji by KO, Pride 16- Beasts from the East against Daijiro Matsui by TKO and Meca World Vale Tudo 3 against Liuz Claudio das Dores via submission.
