Nicholas Robert Diaz also popularly known as Diablo, weighing about 77kgs and 6ft in height is an American specialized mixed martial fighter. He was born and brought up in Stockton in California, and completed his schooling from Tokay High School in Lodi. He also has a younger brother named Nathan, a professional MMA fighter and the winner of the Ultimate Fighter 5.

Being bullied by the other adolescents who were bigger in size, was the reason for Diaz to start martial arts. He currently fights in the Elite Xtreme combat and Pride Fighting Championships and have also competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championships.

He is a former IFC and WEC Welterweight champion and have also honored with black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on May8, 2007, accomplishing in both gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu. Other than fighting, he is also a mixed martial arts instructor at Pacific Coast Martial Arts in Stockton and regularly competes in triathlons, forming as a part of his training.

Diaz practiced different combats sports and martial arts for many years and in 2001 became a specialized mixed martial arts fighter, which was soon after his 18th birthday. It didn’t take him much time and within two years he secured his place as a top contender in the UFC’s talent rich (170lbs) division and also became the IFC and WEC champion.He won his first professional fight at IFC Warriors Challenge 15, by submitting Mike Wick with a triangle choke and soon came his second win in July 2002 against Chris Lytle at IFC Warriors Challenge 17 for the IFC United States Welterweight title. He has also participated in the International Cage Fighting Organization’s inaugural event, where by an undisputed decision, he defeated Ray Steinbess.

Diaz mixed martial arts record stands out with an exceptional 14 wins, 7 by knockouts, 5 by submissions and 6 losses. Naming his few victories includes UFC 65- Bad Intentions against Gleison Tibau by TKO (strikes), UFC 62 against Josh Neer by submission, UFC53- Heavy Hitters against Koji Oishi by KO (punches) and at UFC 51-Super Saturday against Drew Fickett by TKO (Strikes). 

Being a professional boxer and fighting in the Super Middleweight class, Diaz is extensively known for his remarkable upside down guard, which he commonly uses during his fights. Diaz is also widely known for carrying out his modified BJJ style which goes well along with his MMA career.

Diaz has also signed a recent project against current Lightweight champion Takanori Gomi, in a non- title two-deal fight with Pride Fighting Champions in Las Vegas. Pride 33 was Diaz’s debut fight in the Pride organization. Former WBC and WBA World Champion Luisito Espinosa is currently training him.

Nick Diaz- this man truly carries a contentious attitude which proves more undeniable than hurtful.
