Paul Anthony Buentello also popularly known as “The Headhunter” weighing about 111 kgs and 6 ft 2 inches in height is a professional American mixed martial arts fighter. He was born on January 16, 1974 in Amarillo, Texas.

Spending his childhood and growing up in Amarillo Texas, he went to school, with the very popular fellow mate UFC fighter named Evan Tanner. Paul got his nickname “The Headhunter” when he initially started out in Tae Kwon Do; he always aimed for the kick on the head. He went on with his strategy and applied it all through his mixed martial arts career.  Even today, believing in his strategy, which is the fastest way of ending the fight, he, while boxing, still aims at the opponent’s head.

Paul did a lot of Pancration fights, back in Texas during 1993/ 1994 which was that time known as “shoot fights and continued till 1998/1999 and then came his first fight for the I.F.C.

Fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, (UFC), is his seven year dream come true and have also dreamt to be able to make it one day to it. Paul believes that Ultimate Fighting Championship is the best platform to perform and has the best fighters across the globe as well as believes it is his honor to be a part of it.

Making a perfect start and targeting his name to get recognized, Paul made his remarkable debut in the UFC, with a win against Justin Eilers via KO in the first found itself on February 2, 2005 at UFC 51: Super Saturday. Winning his second fight in a row at UFC, he faced UFC veteran Kevin Jordan also popularly known as “The Shaman” on June 4, 2005 in UFC 53: Heavy Hitters and stood victorious in the first round itself with a guillotine choke submission. But unfortunately, lost his title shot at UFC 55: Fury on October 7, 2005 against the well- known UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski also widely known as “The Pitbull”. Followed came an impressive win over Gilbert Aldana by TKO (strikes) at UFC 57.

“The headhunter” won his first two fights for the Strikeforce promotion. Making an outstanding win, he took only 43 seconds to defeat his opponent David Abbott by KO. Lately, he faced off against Ruben Villareal and won by stoppage in the second round.

Paul Buentello, a powerful puncher and certainly a crowd pleaser has an impressive record of 23 wins, 16 via TKO’s, & by submissions, 9 losses and 0 draws. Listing his few victories includes KOTC- Revenge against Bo Cantrell via KO (punch), ROTR 4 against Andy Montana by KO (kick) and USWF 19 against jimmy Westfall via TKO.

One of the most recent fights of Paul was against Carter Williams at Strikeforce Shamrock vs. Baroni, where he scored his victory via TKO in the second round.
