Paulo Filho

Paulo Filho also popularly known as “Paulo” is a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter. He was born on May 24, 1978 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Presently, he is a member of the legendary Brazilian Top Team’s and is still undefeated. On May 9, 2007 Paulo was considered as the third best Middleweight across the globe by MMA Weekly.com. His fighting style is Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Judo and he is frequently compared to his teammate Ricardo Arona.
Filho has trained with one of the toughest trainers and is currently training with the extremely famous Rickson Gracie, who is responsible of producing some great fighters such as Alexandre Paiva, Nino Schembri, Renzo Gracie, Roberto Roleta and Fabio Gurgel. Paulo Filho prefers to keep it simple and relies on his volatile takedowns and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Filho, the young superstar has an impressive list of achievements and accomplishments. He has won five Brazilian national Jiu Jitsu Championships, three Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world titles and also has black belts in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Few of the accomplishments also includes remarkable victories over the very popular middleweights Ikuhisa Minowa, generally known as “The Punk” and Yuki kondo.
Paulo Filho, the undefeated BTT member, has an outstanding mixed martial arts record of 14 wins, (1 by knock outs, 6 via submissions, and 7 by decision) 0 losses and 0 draws. His one of the distinguished wins includes Amar Suloev and Ikushisa Minowa, Kazuo Misaki and Yuki Kondo and Ryo Chonan and Murilo Rua.
Paulo Filho- one of the finest fighters, exceptional victories includes Pride FC Bushido-13 against Kazuo Misaki via submission (1st round) on november 5, 2006, Pride FC Bushido 12- against Ryo Chonan by submission (1st round) on August 26, 2006, Pride FC Bushido 11- against Gregory Bouchelaghem by unanimous decision ( 2nd round) on June 4 2006, Pride FC Bushido 10- against Murilo Rua by unanimous decision ( 2nd round) on April 2, 2006, Pride FC Bushido 9 against Ryuta Sakurai via submission ( 1st round) on September 25, 2005 and Deep: Deep 2001 against Ikuhisa Minowa via unanimous decision.
Paulo’s latest victory was against Kazuo Misaki in the Pride FC Bushido 13 Welterweight Grand Prix (semi finals) which was held on November 5th 2006 via submission. Sadly, Paulo injured himself and suffered a ruptured membrane in his knee in the fight, which enforced him to pull out from the Grand Prix finals over Denis Kang, who also suffered injury in the semi-finals by means of a torn bicep. He was then replaced by Kazuo Misaki, who claimed the Grand Prix Title by defeating the already injured Kang. Filho is expected to fight against Kang in 2007.
