Pawel Nastula

Pawel Nastula was born on June 26, 1970 in Poland. He is a professional mixed martial arts fighter who competes under the heavyweight title. Currently, Pawel Nastula is competing in the Japanese MMA organization for PRIDE Fighting Championships. He was the Judo World Champion in 1995 and 1997. In 1996, Pawel Nastula won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia under the U95kg weight category.
On joining the PRIDE organization, Pawel Nastula immediately faced two of the organization’s top heavyweight competitors, Antonio Rodrigo Nogyueira and Aleksander Emelianenko. Being strong-minded, he did not waste much time over regretting these losses. In July 2006, Pawel Nastula defeated previously unbeaten MMA fighter, Edson Drago. This was Pawel’s third match in the PRIDE Championship.
Following Hidehiko Yoshida and Makoto Takimoto, Pawel Nastula is the third Judo Olympic Gold medalist to contend in PRIDE. Pawel has won numerous World and European Competitions. He is regarded as one of the top-notch judo players in the world. Pawel Nastula has achieved a monumental feat by winning 312 consecutive fights over a period of 1,220 days.
Pride Grand Prix finalist Josh Barnett defeated Pawel Nastula at ‘PRIDE 32: The Real Deal’ by ankle lock. Later it was announced that Pawel had failed the NSAC-administered drug test. Pawel Nastula was tested positive for the intake banned substances such as nandrolone, phenylpropanolamine, pseudoephedrine, and ephedrine. However, Pawel Nastula claims that the stimulants were present in his system through over-the-counter supplements. He also ruled out the possibility of taking nandrolone, which is a mass-building substance, as he had not gained any muscle mass after joining PRIDE. According to an interview, Pawel Nastula has hired lawyers to solve the case.
Pawel Nastula has won many pretigious awards in Judo. In addition to the 1st prize at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, he has also won the 1st prize in European Championships of 1994-1996. In World Championships, Pawel Nastula won the 1st prize in Tokyo in 1995. In 1997, he won the 1st prize at Paris. He won the 2nd prize at Barcelona in 1991.
