Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou is an American based Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, born in the town of Cameroon on April 18, 1984. Also a judo practitioner, 183 cm tall and 93 kg weight fighter specializes in Muay Thai style of fighting.
Even though Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou is young at age, he has already gained fame in the MMA arena. Also known as the ‘African Assassin’, Sokoudjou has been most recently involved in competitions at PRIDE Fighting Championships, a popular event based in Japan.
In his entire career so far, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou has been a 2001 US judo champion, and presently trains with Team Quest, a MMA training camp based in Portland, Oregon. Today, at Team Quest, Sokoudjou acts as a MMA and kickboxing trainer. Moreover, he possesses a dojo in Mira Mesa in San Diego, and used to work with provisional students from a school that was across the street, known as Summit.
When Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou made his PRIDE debut at PRIDE 33, he conquered win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira through a technical knock out in just 23 seconds of the match. This match is considered as one of the most popular matches in the PRIDE history and amongst fans, since Sokoudjou was considered as a 16 to 1 underdog during that time. His most recent match up was with Ricardo Arona, Nogueira’s Brazilian based Top Team stable mate, at PRIDE 34, wherein he successfully triumphed via knockout.
On June 21, 2007, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou’s team declared that Sokoudjou had agreed to sign a contract with MMA organization EliteXC, for 4 years duration. However, nothing has been legally confirmed yet, as the contract still needs to be signed by Sokoudjou. Recently, there was another twist in the tale that stated the fall of the EliteXC contract and announced that Sokoudjou is expected to come to terms with K-1 HERO’s.
As far as Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou’s career record is concerned, he has won majority of his matches with a knockout move. Going through the opposition fighters that he has defeated, the list includes some prominent names from the wrestling industry including Gary Padilla, Paul Weremecki, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and Ricardo Arona.
