His career is market with a doping controversy when in a fight against Tony DeSouza, he tested positive for Spironolactone, a banned product in the rule books of fighting academy in order to lose weight to enter the welter weight limit and compete in related competitions. He is currently associated and trains with American Top Team. Thiago Alves Araujo fels that low kicks are his favourite moves and he can win with his lethal kicks.

As a MMA expert he feels that the professional MMA is a deadly game which can even kill an opponent if the game is not played properly according to the rules. Though MMA is a wrestling game where there are no fixed rules regarding fighting. MMA goes by its name as Mixed Martial Art where there are no barriers and various combat techniques are used by the opponents such as Kung-Fu, Muai Thai, Greco- Roman wrestling, Kick boxing, Martial arts along with all the moves of wrestling except illegal techniques such as eye gouging, kicking on the genitals and lethal blows which are not justified in the fighting tactics.

Basically, MMA is a high intensity game where the opponent is always on the look out of the weak spots of the fellow player. If the fitness levels are not up to the perfect level than MMA can be a bone crushing and difficult game where loses awfully. To say that MMA is a blood and gore game where there is no professionalism would be a baseless comment as this game demands high fitness levels and alert mind and tuned reflexes. This game is not for chicken hearted who cannot stand the smell of blood! This game requires dedication and immense fighting spirit. Thiago Alves says that he was able to win number of titles just because he was fit enough to fight consistently with his opponents. He feels that with his tremendous kicks, he can virtually kill his opponent at any given day. OF late his career is marked with doping case otherwise he was ready to climb the next step in his professional fight career.
