Generally wrestling is related to the military combat and self-defence techniques but it also has various features of a ritual fighting so that fatal actions can be avoided. Earlier wrestling was performed just as a means of satisfying one’s interest in physical actions but with the passage of time wrestling has gained wide popularity, and is now played all round the world. Tony DeSouza, born on 26th July ’74 in Lima, Peru, is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wrestler who has his associations with Pederneiras Vale Tudo and Lewis. His records revel that he has won around 10 matches and lost just 3. Moreover, it has been noted that there was no match played by him that went draw between him and his opponent. About his physical status, he is 183 cm in height and has a weight of approximately 77 kg.
He is a Peruvian native and a MMA veteran, he announced that his next opponent will be Angelo Dias in South American Open Championship in Peru. Tony DeSouza has also formed a team ‘Nova Uniao’.
DeSouza is both a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist and professional martial arts wrestler. In the Ultimate Fighter 5, Tony DeSouza was a coach of the Team Penn. He employs a combination of Jiu-Jitsu and freestyle wrestling. He learned wrestling in his school and college in Los Angeles, and skilled in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Andre Pederneiras and John Lewis.
Tony calls his fighting style as ‘Cholitzu’. He derived this name from the combination of two words ‘cholo’ and ‘jiu jitsu’. He is among the highest rank wrestlers and has very exclusive wrestling styles. In addition, he has also introduced various new actions and moves like Monk Guard, Peruvian Neck Tie and various others. Tony DeSouza is also a strong SOB. The most striking feature is that he started wrestling at the age of 13 and since then he has given tough competition to various famous wrestlers.
DeSouza also states that his wrestling style was always unorthodox, and he plays not to win but to hurt his competitors.
