Vitor Ribeiro also known as Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro was born on the 2nd of November, 1978 in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. He is a specialist in the Brazilian art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and mixed martial artist (MMA). He started learning the art of BJJ at the tender age of 14 owing to a loss in a street fight. His win-loss record in the MMA is outstanding with the win-loss ration of 19-1.Although he knocked out his opponent in one of the matches, 12 of his other victories have come as a result of submissions he enforced on his opponents, 6 still being unanimous decisions.

 He is an accomplished grappler and has won various titles, some of them being the CBJJ Mundials (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship), as a purple belt holder in 1996 (once) and as a black belt holder in three years straight (1999, 2000, and 2001). He has also competed in the ADCC World Championship in 2000 and 2003.

Vitor Ribeiro is also considered as the best lightweight in MMA. He has fought in several organizations all over the world in several bouts, the major one’s being Shooto Hawaii, Shooto Japan,  Cage Rage (England), K-1 HERO'S (Japan) and Rumble on the Rock (Hawaii). He has been the proud holder of the prestigious Shooto welterweight (154 lb) title and the Cage Rage World lightweight championship.

His career victories are:

  • Vitor Ribeiro defeated Kazuyuki Miyata in the K-1 Hero’s Middleweight Tournament opening round.
  • Ryuki Ueyama was another victim of his in the ring in the K-1 Hero’s round of 8.
  • He defeated Daisuke Nakamura in the CR 19-Fearless tournament.
  • He defeated Abdul Mohamed in the CR 18-Battleground.
  • He defeated Chris Brennan in the classic team match Team Gracie vs Team Hammer House (GFC).
  • Shaolin beat Tetsuji Kato in the Rumble on the Rock 7.

He was the founder member of the Nova Uniao association and is currently associated with it. He is considered as one of the most feared fighter in the association and is highly regarded and respected in friends and foes alike. Vitor Ribeiro has been an outstanding wrestler so far and has been a winner throughout other than just one loss to Tatsuya Kawajiri in the Shooto 2004 Year end Show and with a win percentage of 95% at the age of 29, he still has a lot of fighting left in his career and more milestones to achieve. His abilities and his achievements have made him a force to reckon with throughout the world. His skills and abilities along with his constant training are going to ensure his continued success in the future. He is bound to make it to the hall of fame for his vigor, victories and mannerism.
